Our Screening-Level Integrated Risk Assessment Services

Alp & Associates assists clients improve their risk management performance to achieve competitive and strategic advantages.

One of the important tools in improving risk management performance is conducting screening-level integrated risk assessments. Integrated assessments help companies better understand the environmental, public, employee, property, and reputational risks that they face.

Our screening level risk assessment protocol is well established, having been refined through repeated applications at industrial facilities across different industries.

The protocol allows teams led by an experienced facilitator to conduct risk assessments at whatever level of detail is appropriate for the application at hand.

  • The success of this protocol derives from its simplicity, enabling employees to identify and rank different type of risk exposures systematically, quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Consideration of different risks in an integrated manner allows clients to generate risk profiles (sometimes also known as loss profiles), and selectively develop and implement risk management systems where they would "get the most bang for the buck."
  • The flexibility of the approach lends itself to adaptation to companies with a diverse range of activities, such as field activities, surface and underground operations, manufacturing and distribution operations, pipelines, and other transportation systems.
  • The approach has been found to be an excellent starting point for companies which want to set up superior emergency response capability.
Our Management System Assessment and Development Services

Typical risk exposures in an organization include risks to safety, health, environment, property and reputation. Alp & Associates assists industrial and government clients improve their risk management performance. In today’s competitive environment driven by cost-minimization pressures, superior risk management performance is essential in achieving strategic advantages.

In order to achieve rapid and sustainable performance improvements in managing risks, organizations require a well-established management system that can effectively deal with their ever-changing risk exposures.

A management system is a combination of processes and programs, supported by sufficient resources and an appropriate organization.

The first step of developing a successful management system is to understand what the current systems are and how they operate. A management system assessment will address this requirement. Such an assessment helps companies understand their organizational and resource strengths and weaknesses relative to the risks that they have to manage. An integrated risk assessment of the company’s operations is a cornerstone of understanding whether the existing systems, organization, and resources are sufficient.

Effective management of risks requires demonstration of genuine commitment from upper management, and buy in from all levels of the organization. Often, unwritten rules of an organization tend to govern what goes on, rather than the written policies and procedures. Thus, an assessment of these unwritten rules will also help establish the groundwork for building the right management systems.

Here are some of the steps involved in assessing and developing a superior risk management system.

  • Management system assessment and strategy development. This step should ideally include a broad risk assessment as well.
  • Development and implementation of policies, guidelines and standards for guiding the organization in its day-to-day activities, ensuring stakeholder participation along the way.
  • Development and implementation of review and audit systems to ensure continual improvement.
